Another Day, Another Castle

After another pre-breakfast walk along Newbiggin beach, we drove to Craster and walked along the coast path to Dunstanburgh Castle. The castle was besieged during the Wars of the Roses and fell into decline as a result. The ruination just adds to the romantic feel of the place.

There's a links golf course just beyond the castle soI was able to stand and admire a few shots before we did the return walk to Craster where we enjoyed the local delicacy of kippers cured in the local smokehouse.

Really good news when we got back to the house was a phone call from the travel company we went to Vietnam with confirming that they have finally decided to reimburse the cost of our flights, etc. We celebrated with battered haggis and chips from the local chippie.
