Out in the garden

After yesterday's marathon drive (by my standards), it was good to get out in the garden today and start the autumn clear-up. Richard and I cleared away a young cherry tree that hasn't thrived, and I pruned back into shape its healthier neighbour (a morello). Later in the year I'll plant a greengage in its place.
Then I cut the grass and did some watering. The combination of sunshine and wind has dried everything out.
Now that I have no horse-care routine, there is already more time for the mix of family, garden, friends & bits of voluntary work. Milly's new family have been sending me photos each day. To my enormous relief, she is settling in well. She and her new teenage rider are bonding well!
