Sgwarnog: In the Field

Darter

I had a good afternoon walk with the kids down to the nature reserve and then along the river to Esholt and back up.

This Common Darter was basking next to the main pond in the reserve. Dragonflies clearly have potential as sundials.

There were plenty of Goosander and Mandarin on the river, and a smattering of Large White, Small White, Speckled Wood and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies along the route of the walk.
