Helenium on the Stone Wall

Dear Diary,

Coldest morning yet, just 30F, but there doesn't look like there is any frost.  There were certainly no bees on the Helenium!  Of course, the stones retain a degree of warmth so the flowers are fine.  John will be here this morning to divide more perennials.  It won't be long, at this rate, before the great "cut back" begins!  I turned the heat on for the first time this season this morning!
