Black Darters

Lucky me finding these mating black darters on the edge of the pool at the Bog in Shropshire. It was recompense for the angst of fighting gorse and brambles plus skidding at a jaunty angle into the water.

I rescued a male who had got caught in one of the thousands of webs. I know he was the spiders meal but it was awful to watch and not for purely altruistic reasons I popped him onto a gorse bush from where he managed to untangle himself - thankfully, under the eye of the camera :) See diving darter in Extra.
