This toadstool is living up to its name of Shaggy Inkcap (Coprinus comatus).  Another name is Lawyer’s Wig or Judge’s Wig because of the shaggy scales when it is younger before the cap starts to turn up when the white gills inside break down to an inky black liquid which can be seen dripping the spores on to the grass.  This can be used as ink mixed with a little water and cloves then heated to fix the ink.  Apparently the very young fresh toadstools can be eaten.
