On the way back (Widwed160920)

We walked up and over Catbells from the campsite, ~17km with a couple of scrambles on quite polished rock.  Great views toward Skiddaw & Bassenthwaite on the way up.  There were several other walkers going the same way, and as we didn't like the idea of the scrambles going back down, we walked on a little further South and found another route down which led us to this gate with it's wonderful pierced stone posts.

Large on Black looks so much better :-)

Not as cool as the photo might suggest, I did put on a thin fleece but but was really quite warm for the time of year.

With the camera, lenses, lunch and a jacket my lower back was complaining, so today I bought a new ruck-sac (to add to my growing collection!) which has a more substantial hip belt.  Found the walking poles a great help going up too.

We realised the last time we walked up Catbells was around 36 years ago - our knee joints were more flexible then!

I'll tag this for Wide Wednesday,  although not really on the theme - aside from the traditional baler twine holding the gate closed :-)

Thanks to Freyjad for hosting.
