Of League Tables

The local newspaper lands on our doormat every Thursday morning. The headline is usually about a major crime, murder being a favourite. Not today though.

On Monday our area had the 6th highest Covid infection rate in England. The rate has subsequently increased, but the town has now dropped to 9th in the league, having been overtaken by three other boroughs. Rates of increase are startlingly high.

Top of the league is Bolton, which has one of the highest infection rates in Europe outside Spain.

It is usual to want to be in the top half of a league table. Not this one though.
