Above & Beyond

I have no idea what the projected image on the dome of St Paul's Cathedral was about or, indeed, from where it was being projected (though I guess it may have been from the Tate Modern).  However, it added a feature to this familiar scene of the Millennium Bridge.

We are treating ourselves to a short break in London.  This is Open House weekend, when buildings usually inaccessible to the public are opened up for visiting. However, this year is rather different.  There are few buildings which can be visited, although some can be seen "virtually" (on line).  Nevertheless, we decided to take at least one of the self guided tours on the Open House web site. We will be doing that tomorrow.

Tonight, we checked into our apartment (we chose a self contained apartment on Bankside in preference to a hotel) and, after a self-prepared meal there, we went for a wander along the river bank.  I am sure that under normal circumstances this area would be crowded on a Friday evening.  Although there may have been fewer people than under non-Covid conditions, the place still felt to be buzzing, with plenty of people in the restaurants and bars.  There was no difficulty, though, in keeping our distance and I felt quite comfortable.

So often when I visit London I feel the need to leave for home just when things are getting interesting in the evening.  It is therefore a real pleasure to be staying in town and be able to wander out with my camera late into the evening. This picture may have been better if taken earlier when there was still some light in the sky:  maybe I'll have another look tonight.
