Common Enchantments

A special camp ground

It was such a great day today weatherwise that I knew I could not stay in the house or do chores so I texted my friend R and wanted to know if she wanted to ride with me to a couple of state parks that I have not visited. She said "heck yeah!"  She is like me and cannot tolerate the heat so has not done many trips outside during the summer.

So we packed a lunch sandwich and headed out to Little Pee Dee State Park, Cheraw State Park, Lee State Park and Cooper Black State Recreation area.  These parks are a couple hours away from home but in an area that I never usually travel so it was interesting to drive on the back roads in this location.  The area was once a major tobacco farming area but mostly we saw corn, soybeans and cotton.

At Lee State Park we had to make a turn to get to the park office and the little lake but at the stop sign was this haybale camper.  Someone really has a good imagination!    So silly and perfect for a Saturday.   Hope it makes you smile!

In the extra is a photo of one of the water lilies we saw blooming on the lake at the Lee State Park.   A  wood stork that flew up and startled both of us at Little Pee Dee park (fyi..the Little Pee Dee is a river in this area), a horse at Cooper Black Recreation area which is a major equestrian park with many horses and riders (we wanted to spend more time taking horse photos but we were running late) and at Cheraw, the boardwalk around the edge of the lake.

A long day but worth the hours in the car.  Much better than sitting in the house and doing chores!
