The Tide Is Out

We had the monsters today (another school holiday).
A disabled friend of mine in Auchterarder had made mention the other day that I should have brought him some shells and pebbles back from my holiday - he uses them in making small ornaments and pictures.
So we took the monsters down to Blackness where we each took a bag and went hunting for nice shells, pebbles and sea-glass.
After we had done that Squirrel was asking where 'The Bridges' were, so we went up the slope above Blackness Castle so she could she them.
It was there that The Cygnet asked what the ruined wall and old foundations were. I had him read the plaque in the foundations about Cromwell pulling down the Chapel (which the building had been) in 1650 and using the area as the spot he put his cannons to break the siege on the castle. He didn't fully understand it so I explained it all to him.

While we were there there were loads of geese heading (roughly) south.

As the moisture in the air threatened to turn into rain we headed back to the car where Squirrel spotted the Robin who was in no rush to escape her attention.
We then went for a fast food take-away lunch before coming home where The Cygnet suggest we have a game of Monopoly. The game lasted 3 hours and it was only right at the end that concentration and interest began to wain. I was most impressed. By that time it was time for them to go home.

All in all - a good day.
