Nicky and her Nikon

Autumnal bracken

I am finding it tricky living with such uncertainty when you cannot plan anything. In case Coronavirus restrictions allow us to drive to Switzerland after Christmas, we don't know if we can take Xena as her dog passport may not be valid depending on the Brexit outcome. Defra advise what is required for the dog passport depending on the classification of the UK after Brexit, but one of the very likely scenarios is that in addition to having the rabies inoculation (which she had a year ago), she will require a blood test to check that the antibodies from this inoculation are high enough to comply with the rules. So this morning I took her to the vet for a blood test and we get the results in a week. We have to wait 3 months from the date of the blood test result before we can travel with her, and then...the vet says many dogs fail the blood test and have to have the rabies inoculation again. So we will wait and see the outcome, but dealing with Coronavirus restrictions and Brexit is a bit much.

After the vet we had a lovely walk in the woods where I noticed that with the bracken changing colour it is starting to look more like autumn now. Most trees are still very green though.

Now for a big rant about Loganair! As I mentioned previously, I am booked to go to Harris and Lewis on a photography workshop in March 2021 - we wait to see if that will take place. In the meantime, Loganair who we have to fly with to get to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis and Harris, have changed the flights THREE times since I booked 2 months ago. First they changed the times by 10 minutes, then they changed the times by 2 hours so I had to cancel and rebook the connecting flights from London to Edinburgh, now they have changed the flights from Edinburgh to Glasgow so I have to cancel and rebook my connecting flights from London yet again! The flight times don't actually work so we have to look at changing the dates of the workshop, it is all so frustrating and annoying.

I am trying to decide on some images to enter for my first camera club competition - any advice on what type of images the judges like?
