Free Ride...

for humans and dogs. Explored Telluride with Miya and my husband. (He will be heading up the mountain alone tomorrow to hunt elk.) The gondolas are free to ride. This photo is on the way back down into the old mining town. It once was home to rowdy (26 saloons the never closed) silver miners looking to find their fortunes. When silver value crashed, the population also crashed. In the early 1970's the town recreated itself as winter ski resort. Many of the early homes still stand, most of them with modern improvements. The mountain is littered with newer, much larger homes, mostly on the other side of the peak. The engineering of building on the side of a mountain is impressive.

I am slowly getting caught up with my blips. Phone coverage and internet are not great in the mountains, but the views are breath-taking. I will try to catch up on journals too!
