Black Dog

Valentine's Day...a day when people who are not in a relationship can feel as though they are missing out. That is the case with my good friend Paula and so it was really nice to have her come and join us for dinner this evening and to share a bottle of yummy Mumm champagne with her. Dinner was marinated lamb backstraps, couscous, grilled zucchini, salad of beetroot and greek yoghurt, hommus (homemade by Gaby) and flat bread. Easy and very tasty.

After dinner Paula and I went down to see the street art festival....the one that was being set up last night. The atmosphere was great with lots of people, young and old, watching the different acts. This dog caught my attention....it's owner at the other end of the leash was observing one of the acts being performed in a shop front. This dog wasn't interested in the show preferring instead to watch the passing crowd. The thought crossed my mind that he could well be one of the acts, positioned as he was in front of a shop entrance...all that was needed was a dialogue projected on a board above his head telling the viewer what he was thinking. He certainly looks like he's thinking to me.

Paula really enjoyed the show and intends to go and have another look on Saturday...I may do the same on Sunday and post another photo...perhaps the motorbike accident this time. Some of the actors have a harder role than others... the motorbike accident victim told me that the side of his face was getting really sore from being on the bitumen...that was after he had performed 7 times and had 3 more to go for the evening. He is going to have to change his technique for tomorrow i think otherwise he is going to really be injured. And the couple who spend 10 mins kissing....they have to perform this 5 times an hour for 2 hours. That's 100 mins of kissing....they are going to be soooo over it by Sunday night. Much tougher role than the woman who spends the time rolling around on a bed, or the lass who sits at a desk in the window of the bookshop, reading a book while her story is projected above her.

Earlier in the evening I checked out a house that is for sale...Federation style, quite nice but not for me. It is going to be hard to find a house that I love as much as my home...but i feel it is time to find a place without stairs as it is becoming increasingly difficult to carry grandchildren up and down them several times when they come to visit (family room is on the top floor...food is on the bottom...bedrooms in between).
