Railway Track to Nowhere

I had to go into the village to pick up a new iPad being delivered to the local supermarket for Mum. So took the opportunity to take a short detour up to Beacon Wood for a stroll.

I last visited this back in March just before the full lockdown came into effect. Little did I know then it would be months before I could visit Mum again.

Today’s visit allowed me to roam the wetland area which had mostly dried out due to to lack of rain over the summer.  There were a number of old railway sleepers strewn across the woodland floor, which may or may not have been left from the time the area was a quarry. However from the state of this large rusting nail, I suspect this example may well date from that time,
