Life through the lens...

Stoney ground.

What a beautiful day for our drive home.
We decided to cut across country to avoid the M5.
An enjoyable journey up to the M1 at Leicester.
Roads fairly quiet, and the countryside looked lovely in the sunshine. We noticed the first sign of Autumn tints on the trees.
Just before Stow-on-the-Wold we stopped for coffee in a lay-by.
The field had been ploughed, and I was amazed how stoney the ground was.

Couldn’t find a parking spot at Morton-in-Marsh, so next stop was Leicester Forrest Services.
Then the problems started.
The Motoway was closed from junction 22 - 23.
Not a very long detour, but it took an hour and a half. Mainly caused by traffic lights as we were rejoining the M1 because of upgrading junction 23. If the police had been there to sort out the lights ( only letting 5 cars through at a time) the delays could have been avoided.

However fortunately the weather was fine, and we spent the time listening to radio 2.

Back on the motorway with no more problems, and finally got home, but took 8 hours.

Have had a wonderful holiday. Look forward to returning again next year. Don’t expect to have the same weather though!

Thank you all for the kind comments while we have been away.
Hope to catch up and be back to normal soon.
