Seen from Another Place

Day four of our holiday and we by-passed Liverpool for a visit to Crosby Beach and the art installation by Sir Anthony Gormley - Another Place.

We went while both the sun and the tide were out; to get a feel for the size of the installation, and although we visited the northern half only we got a good feel of the overall scale.  Viewed from the north the cranes and wind turbines of the docks in Bootle provided a fitting backdrop.

It was interesting to see the way the patina of the sculptures varied with their location (although this is the third location for each figure).

I was surprised to see only one of the sculptures being used as a perch for a seagull; and it only obliged for a short time (extra photo).

After Crosby Beach we drove up to Formby Beach and sat and had lunch watching the horses and dogs enjoying the sand and the surf.
