Drones

Chicken treats - drone cells from my bees. Some beekeepers use a method of encouraging bees to lay separate frames of male drone cells that are larger than normal worker bees. The reason is the awful varroa destructor mite prefers the large cells while they wait to latch on the emerging bees.

And anyway, for most beekeepers drones are a waste of space, simply eating & slouching around hoping for the chance of sex which is less likely than winning the jackpot in the lottery! So letting the chickens eat the grubs has it's benefits.
