Quod oculus meus videt

Late for Breakfast

I was out before breakfast in conditions I love, mist, fog and warm light.  The fog ebbed and flowed and standing above it on Loughrigg Terrace it was really difficult to know which way to point the camera.  The conditions were changing constantly and just as I thought that the fog was going to dissipate it came back with a vengeance, enveloping me within a few minutes.

I really could have stayed out for another hour but we had plans and L was to attempt her second Wainwright.  Helm Crag is a step up for her from her first, which was the delightful Castle Crag in Borrowdale.  It was a glorious early autumn day and we were soon in t-shirts as the climb started and we heated up.  We enjoyed an impromptu lunch on the summit watching a few intrepid walkers climb to the top of the cannon before gingerly trying to descend to safety.  Thankfully all succeeded though one young lady took an age to pluck up the courage to come down.  She likened it to the cat in the tree that got up there but couldn't get down.

Then it was back to the hotel and a well earned drink.
