Deep Blue Sea and Separate Tables...

(I was always struck by the way the titles of these two plays by Terence Rattigan do and don't go together.) On this occasion the separate tables were two flat rocks conveniently placed for a picnic not far from the crashing waves of the Bristol Channel. Not far enough, in the first case, so for the cheese course and dessert we had to move to a second stone table nearer to the crumbling cliffs - not so much the devil and the deep as between a lot of rock and a very wet place. I know, it looks a bit like that scene in The Seventh Seal, but more cheerful.

Anyway, enough word play and allusion. This was the perfect day and location for a much desired family get-together. The six adult humans came to the same beach three years ago, immediately after the two youngest were married. This time we brought along the newest member of the family - see ceridwen's lovely picture for a closeup.
