Found another pocket of ok air, it was rated Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups, so I figured for an hour I'd be fine. Glad I did as I really tuned out a lot of stuff while I swam.
I've been noticing how life over the months has become focused on monitoring things: Air quality, particulates, acres burned, people evacuated, wind direction, how darn hot is it going to be today, conserve electricity... Every day, multiple times a day, particularly the air quality. Covid figures in there too, but mentally has been lower down the list of my daily worries than is-air-breathable-today-or-not? reality since August.
The thing floating in the pool is monitoring water temperature.
