The Long-Tail

Long-tail boats like these are a common sight around Thai waterways. Whether putting around a floating market, taxiing down a canal, crossing the Chao Phraya river, fishing for dinner, or zipping off to an island, these boats and their driver will get the job done.

Some run on a schedule with a set fee, others can be hired at a negotiated price. Some are covered and have plastic water shields on the sides to keep the splashing to a minimum (especially nice when going down a swampy, smelly canal.) Others are completely open so you get the full effect of wherever you are going (great for those clear water island trips!)
