Hoiday at the Temple

There was a lot of activity at the temple by my house tonight. Being one of the most important Buddhist holidays, many people had come to pay respect and make merit. Some people lit incense while others shook a cup full of sticks eventually pulling out one that told a fortune. There was also the lighting of candles, laying of flowers, chanting, and money donation. I'll try to share a picture of the money donation tomorrow. They have a very unique way of collecting it.

The holiday is Makha Bucha Day. From what my English students told me, it's the day that commemorates the gathering of many monks from all over to meet and be ordained by the Buddha and another important event regarding sharing the teachings of Buddha.
