Merit Money

Yesterday we peeked into the neighborhood temple during this weekend's Buddhist festival. Another part of making merit at the temple is donating money. This is the first time I've seen a donation set up like this. Ribbon was strung from a hanging rope outside the temple. People coming to make merit said their prayers with hands together in a "wai" in front of them, then stapled their money to the ribbon.
