Seventeen Herons standing in a field....

'There were seventeen herons standing in a field...'

Seen on our lovely catch up walk with Jen and Pete this morning.  We thought it was unusual for herons to hang out together but, according to a local passing by, there are often up to twenty one of them!  How strange.  It's a bit of a distant blip but it had to be done.

Our walk set off along the canal towpath and I can only think all the solitary runners passing by were doing their 'virtual' London Marathons as there were so many of them.  We decided to turn off in to the woods to find a quieter path, which we did.   Once in Saltaire we had take-away cuppas and extremely yummy cakes from Nordish.  I can recommend the chocolate malt pastry one!  We found a bench in the park to enjoy them and then took an alternative route back via Milner Field and Beckfoot, again much quieter ways.  It was great to see them both in good health.  Even though they live in the next village, contact has been limited with all the restrictions.

Back home and after a bit of lunch it was back on with the walking boots for me and a rendezvous with Hobbler pal Angela for a local catch up walk.  Angela always lifts my spirits.

Now I'm going to relax awhile before attending to the roast chicken.  We've just had the cutest Euan pictures come through of him enjoying the autumn leaves in the park....and blowing long raspberries!
