View from the bridge

After yesterday's torrential rain, we made the most of a brief dry spell with a late-morning walk around Branton Lakes. Much milder than yesterday, it was a very pleasant walk, starting in autumn sunshine. We parked by the River Breamish and walked over the footbridge to the lakes - the Blip is the view from the bridge.

Hundreds of noisy greylag geese on the islands, squawking, honking, and bickering with each other - what a racket. On the lakes themselves lots of other birds too, including swans, goosanders, and grebes, and herons on the banks. And we passed two beautiful roe deer grazing in the woods.

Good timing for once - we got back to the car as the rain started again, and headed back to the flat for a very late lunch.

A couple of extras - The geese were by the lake, quietly observing their squabbling neighbours on the island. The second extra is for Teasel!
