Michaelmas Daisies

I love these and when I see them it reminds me of my early schooldays. I went to a church school St Michael and all Angels and every year on the 29th of September, Michaelmas Day, we would go to the church adjoining our school for a service and it would be festooned with Michaelmas daisies.

Michaelmas, or the Feast of Michael and All Angels, is celebrated on the 29th of September every year. ... It used to be said that harvest had to be completed by Michaelmas, almost like the marking of the end of the productive season and the beginning of the new cycle of farming.

Who was St Michael well In Christian angelology, the Archangel Michael is the greatest of all the angels and is honoured for defeating Lucifer in the war in heaven.

Another lovely day today. Went to pick up our prescriptions from the chemist we put them in over a week ago and I had to sit and wait till they were filled, you would have thought they would have had them done by now.

Last night we watched an old black and white film "The Dam Busters" really enjoyed it and it brings home how many young airmen died. We watched High Noon the night before, there is so much rubbish on TV these days we are recording the oldies on the film channels
