Smoke and Mirrors

As we crossed the Higher Ferry back to Dartmouth this afternoon, the level crossing gates closed across the road behind us. In our wing mirrors, we watched the steam train chuff by. We were on our way back from Torbay Hospital where I had had my glaucoma eye check-up, postponed from March. Only 7 months late! But, happily, the tests showed no change, so I'm to continue with my current daily eye-drops. They seem to be doing their job, thank goodness. Ridiculously, keeping this appointment seems to have wiped out the whole day, but the journeys take about an hour or so each way.
