Looking East

10.4C and feeling mild. Lots of blue in the sky with a light breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went out after lunch and headed off towards the church looking forward to our walk in the bright sunshine. The field seemed to be a bit drier today. The trailers are still sitting empty near the bottom of the field. In the shade of the trees the path out of the shore end of the field is still very muddy in the tractor ruts.

Looking out to sea towards Easthaven and Arbroath I could see the variations of blue on the surface of the sea that come from open blue sky, patches of cloud, and the light passing through the water over lighter sandy areas. It was wonderful to see, and to realise that the sun is now high enough in the sky again for these details to become visible. Over towards Fife I could see the waves rising on the sandbank at the mouth of the Tay estuary with the light breeze lifting spray off the breakers and holding it in the air for brief sunlit seconds. I had Runrig on the iPod. I stopped and listened to "Maymorning". "I'm alive again !"

Just one dog and one dog walker on the beach and several small children running around near the boat channel with a woman herding them away from the water. Two or three people working around at the Fishermen's huts. Signs of life there too :-)
