Getting the sparkle back

Robbie again

Another blip of Robbie in his carrier, this time on his way from Vets Now, the emergency service, to my own vet at Bread Street. Vets Now only operates at evenings and weekends, outwith those times it's the PDSA hospital, so pets have to be moved elsewhere. I spent most of the day waiting for further news of Robbie which wasn't good when it came - the vet did another scan of Robbie's abdomen and estimated that the tumour was about four centimetres by three, also more importantly that it was very painful to Robbie despite sedation and analgesia. I brought Robbie home and was immediately worried by his condition which had deteriorated significantly since Saturday. He went to hide in a cupboard and was quite flat, uninterested in food and water. I felt that it had been a mistake to bring him home and that he should probably have been put to sleep that evening, although he had been described as bright on Sunday and Monday. Maybe this was the first chance he had had to hide in familiar territory and to lower his guard.
