At the Top of the World...

...or so it seemed. We went exploring today - primarily in search of a ghost town here in Montana called Garnet Ghost Town. It's deep into the mountains and has a fascinating history, if you want to click on the link. 
The altimeter on my phone - I'm not sure how accurate it is - put us at just 7000 feet. The sky was a brilliant blue, the leaves turning bright yellow, and the low bush blueberries bright red. It was absolutely silent, except for the breeze and a few birds. Just stunning. 

I took this photo right near the ghost town. It doesn't begin to capture the beauty of these deep mountain woods, but it was an amazing place.

We're leaving Montana tomorrow and headed back to Washington State, this time to Walla Walla, home of some amazing wine and the famous sweet onions. We've been there before and it's glorious at this time of year.
