Who’s been out with the sandpaper?

I’ve never noticed this before, but as I was crossing over a stile on my walk I noticed the lichen on the top rail first and then when I looked down I spotted this very smooth bottom rail.

My extra is a small fungi growing in the field.  It looked purple to me as I looked down and I thought about amethyst deceiver, but changed my mind when I looked closely.  It could be a deceiver, but I’m not sure.  Anyway I spent a short while with a small tripod.

My walk took me into Bagger Wood where I thought I might see fungi, but there was very little about apart from a clump of something going over near the car park and some yellow Russulas where I’ve previously seen Fly Agaric.
