Something we cannot live without

Chatting to a lady today, just outside the ward. She’s not allowed to step inside, because of covid restrictions. But she’s in tears because she would give anything to walk just a few metres down the corridor, to where her husband is staying.
He’s been admitted with a stroke, and is struggling emotionally too. He’s making good recovery, but it’s such a frightening thing to have gone through, and being separated from his family in an unfamiliar place just serves to worsen the anxiety.
But it is beautiful to see the love they have for each other. Even though they can’t see each other face to face, it was fun to relay messages back and forth between them. Both in their 70s, but the romance is still going strong!
