Long autumnal walk in Sutton Park this morning.

We took a chance on the weather which is unsettled and set off to walk in the park this morning, as we were expecting two deliveries this afternoon which necessitated one of us being here at least.
One is a food delivery from J.S.Sainsbury's which we have recently instigated as Stephen is due  to have his second operation on October 29th and has to self isolate for two weeks beforehand. He has a pre-op by phone next Monday, 12th,  when the nurse will explain to him what is involved in that 2 weeks, amongst the other things that have to be done.
We made the right choice in going out this morning.
It was beautiful in the park amongst the autumn foliage of the trees, walking along leaf covered paths. The three pools we passed were rippling in the stiff breeze, but as the light brightened from time to time, they sparkled and glittered.
Lots of people out walking, especially with their very muddy dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Always good to see families with children enjoying themselves. My sister and I were always taken out for walks through field paths or up hills, when we were younger, giving us both an appreciation of views from a summit after a stiff climb, plus a picnic!
We had our local large park too, which was surrounded by trees, and situated on a hillside slope, which had tennis courts, and a bowling green, a museum, which was free, and play area with swings, slide, rocking horse, and the infamous "umbrella" which has been banned these days! I'll see if I can find a link.  It was also known as the Witches Hat.

I love being amongst trees, and the sounds they make in windy weather or gentle breezes. This morning the leaves were floating down around us with each stronger gust.
When we were about to pass by Little Bracebridge Pool I took the photo of the two small boys enjoying themselves each with their wellington boots, paddling at the edges. Such a timeless pleasure.
After almost 5 miles by the time we arrived home, we were ready for a steaming bowl of Stephen's homemade soup My favourite Bacon and  Lentil.
It has now turned colder as the heating has come on, which is unusual during the day. The showers are heavier and more regular as I write this blip.
Time to snuggle up again with my book! I've almost finished it.
