The golfers

The boys had a 1.30pm tee off time for their golf today, which was an awkward time regarding lunch. So we decided to go out for brunch instead, which was delicious - I had my favourite of poached eggs on smashed avo.

After brunch we came home and I quickly took this photo before they left for golf - the course is about 40 minutes away and Gavin likes to get there early so he can go to the practice tee first. They chose a good day for it, it has been sunny and bright all day. I have included an extra of Xena with the boys.

It's a pity Tommy could not join them but he is already very busy with work at university. Cambridge Uni seem to be controlling the Coronavirus situation very well. Each week every bubble of six people are tested and the swabs are collectively tested for the virus, to save costs rather than do six different tests. The outcome is the same because if one swab is positive all six have to isolate in any case so it is an effective method. Adam said he went out the other night - in a group of six - and afterwards walked to Jesus Green (its a common in Cambridge) where they were going to sit and chat, but as it was after 10pm the police came by straight away and told them to go home. I presume they were worried that a large group would congregate and start drinking. They do seem to be quite vigilant there which is a good thing.

When the boys left for golf, I packed for our trip to the Lakes tomorrow - easy to pack as its mainly hiking gear and wet weather clothing! The camera bag always takes the longest to pack as I have to decide what to take. I then took Xena for another walk in the woods, and have also made a ragu sauce for spaghetti bolognaise for the boys when they come home as I am sure they will be hungry.

An early start tomorrow morning, and I think rain is expected all day tomorrow for the journey.

The boys enjoyed the golf, played in short sleeves the whole day as it was so sunny and mild. Apparently the course was very challenging with lots of heather and very fast greens and rounded, so the ball did not stay where it landed...Each got a few birdies and played well.
