Quiet Sunday

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon with not a lot happening and I was sitting upstairs sewing. When suddenly a helicopter landed in the field below our house. The noise brought out all the neighbours and, as we had one of the best views, there was soon a gathering in our garden to watch. Actually there were only five of us, so it was okay - at the moment!

It was the Air Ambulance. We watched it land, then two paramedics got out and went down into the Ghyll. A fire engine had gone past a short while before and parked in the village. We assumed someone had fallen in the Ghyll and needed to be rescued as well as medical attention.

After a long time, during which we all returned to what we were doing, we realised someone was being brought up on a stretcher. There must have been around a dozen in the rescue party, including fire people, ambulance people, as well as the helicopter crew. Then we watched as the helicopter took off. It was amusing to see the three cows come up to see what was happening, only to run off the instant the engine started - see extra.

We have not found out what happened or anything yet, but it was great to watch the air ambulance in action . . . and to know it is there actually.
