A beautiful autumn day!

Got mum bundled Into the car and drove along the Dundee road to Rait, anyone whose been on blip a number of years will know this is Amalarian (Molly’s) area with Fingask Castle just down the road, now a very popular wedding venue (but not at the moment :(.

Tim the owner is a charmer and never forgets a customer. He’s very laid back, chatty and has the best egg mayo sarnies in Perthshire. But not today! He had sold out of bread and also the soup was finished. So a scone it was!

Chatting on the way back in the car, as we passed the ‘old gelly’ on the Dundee road, the Cowper family home at Muiredge where my mum lived from the age of 4 to 8 while her Dad worked in Braco she informed us that when she eventually moved to Braco after a housekeeper was installed they took in an evacuee from Glasgow. It was a girl the same age as her and as the village school was quite small the local kids went to school in the morning and the evacuees went in the afternoon. She can’t remember the name of the girl but said they were good pals for the time she was there. Wouldn’t it be great to know who this person was...

I’ve found over the years little snippets of family info trots out of my mums mouth which leaves us saying ‘what ???’. Like the time not that long ago when we asked who Norman (age 3 in a 1911 census) was, living with her grandparents ‘Oh Norman was my half brother......’

Oh, these Cowpers.....

Ps a mid blink face not spaced out !
