"Down By The Lock"

There were not a lot of tourists around today, Saturday, but down by the Lock the old Paddle-boat ROTHBURY (built in 1881) came swishing in, in all it's glory, with just a few tourists on board, but you'll notice, they're enjoying the ride..

Into the Lock she went and when the back gates are opened up and then shut, she sits there and waits for the Lock Chamber to fill to the upper level..
The front gates are then opened and off she goes upstream to the boat Wharf about 3klms along the river.

It's always intriguing for the children to see the boats changing water level within the Lock..
