What Is Your Reason?

We enjoy a gin based cocktail on occasion. The card just happened to be part of the background to the subject of today’s Blipfoto.

The subject is a Cannon. Yes, one that is capable of firing a cannon ball, or just making a noise.

It is a Starter’s Cannon. It was one of the first items we purchased together away back in 1982.

It is actually quite small and the cannon balls are 15mm in diameter. We have never fired it. You need some gunpowder and some sort of fuse.

But, it is a good conversation starter.

Another overcast day and day for more desk study.

The extra is a tailscript to yesterday’s Blipfoto and shows the staircase from the top.

There is a proper door to the crypt, and the marble off-cut leaning against the wall covers the copper pipe which acts as a drain, should the hot water tank misbehave.

The Caithness stone slabs at the bottom were probably broken very early in the building’s life to allow rainwater to disperse and avoid a frozen surface in winter.

Very safety conscious.
