Flat Race Course!

We are in Ashland, Wisconsin to particpate in the Book Across the Bay on Saturday night. The Book is a night-time nordic ski "race" across a frozen bay of Lake Superior. More about that tomorrow. This photo was taken in the tent where we were registering for the race. I laughed at this poster that shows the length and elevation of the course, which of course is flat, across the frozen water!

Left home early this morning. Drove north of Duluth a bit in search of a Great Grey Owl. We did see one and were able to photograph it. It is easy to find the owls because there is usually a line up of cars and photographers with really long lenses along the side of the road.
Spent about one hour skiing at After Hours Trail in Brule, Wisc. Arrived at our favorite B&B, the Inn at Timber Cove, in Ashland about 3:00. We have our own little cabin a beautiful, peaceful place. We are happy to be here where there is some real snow.
