Fungi

An afternoon at Martin Mere. We’re not visiting hides, but walked around the reedbed and then on a footpath outside the reserve. It was good. We needed fresh air and the natural world.

Standout was seeing a bittern in flight, but also marsh harrier, cetti’s warbler, wigeon, snipe and the first whooper swans we have seen as we move towards winter.

I liked this fungus set against fallen autumnal leaves.

Martin Mere is in west Lancashire, which it was announced today is moving into “tier 3” of the government’s new approach to tackling Covid 19.

We are having a tough time at present, so I am behind on looking at blips.
