Ant hill

Checked out another of the Wildlife Trust's reserves, Pilch Field, that is near to the village we've moved to. It looks really interesting - ancient 'ridge and furrow' fields, marshy areas, a pond, stream, thick old hedges and lots of enormous ant hills made by the Yellow Meadow Ant. It is clearly going to be a really exciting place for photography through spring and summer, but for today an enormous ant hill has to have pride of place.
