Probably the commonest fungi in my local woods: Birch Polypore. I've been reading about its many uses, from antiseptic, through razer strop to blotting paper.

It seemed quite warm and sunny out at lunchtime. I bumped into a deer in the meadow behind the cricket pitch at Tong Park, and in the community garden, my first Red Admiral butterfly since 15 September.
