Backblip

We discovered a mini herd of elephants in the woods beneath Bowderstone Pinnacle today, they were so cute!

But before that we walked up to The Bowderstone, climbed the new staircase to the top and we looked at The Time Machine, a former climbers' hut where an exhibition relating to the Bowderstone was housed in 2017, then up to the crag above to climb Bowderstone Pinnacle.

Fi had climbed the first pitch and set up the belay when unfortunately it began to rain fairly heavily... so Mary followed her up and then the two of them abseiled off as no-one wanted to finish the route on wet rock.

By the time they were down the rain had almost stopped, but the rock was soaked of course and we headed down to the car. It was decided to drive to Castlerigg stone circle as neither Julia nor Mary had been there before, so we bought ice creams and played tourist for a bit.

Extras: climbing the Bowderstone and sorting out our bags in the room that evening.
