A New View

This is the view I mentioned in yesterday’s entry. Actually it was this morning, so this is my second today and will be brief. The fence that burned down ran just behind the stone wall and had bamboo growing in front of it. We’re not sad to see the last of the bamboo (although it probably isn’t. Bamboo, like eucalyptus, has a way of coming back no matter what catastrophe has befallen it!)

The best part of this picture is the sheen of green grass already appearing in the field. If you squint, you might be able to see it.
Everything else on this side of the house is dead and a lot of it already carted away so it is no longer the hot tub deck but a blank slate!

Today we went to see Kathy who in her cheerful, patient way gave our tired and tense bodies a gentle workout and a lot of TLC. It was a much needed break from the chaos. It seems everyone else had the same idea today as it’s been a very quiet day. No helicopters, no beeping trucks or chain saws or chippers.

Pedro and his guys are AWOL today but that’s ok. I’m sure their lives are almost as crazy as ours, and much harder, dirtier work as they try to help many people in the neighborhood. There was also positive feedback from Alicia, our insurance adjuster, so all in all a good day....
