Very wet afternoon!

I had just come back indoors from taking this photo when the heavens opened! The rain ran in rivulets in the roadside gutter.
The trees across the road are being denuded now fairly quickly of their foliage. Mostly the birch and cherry. The oak leaves are golden but still hanging on. I was watching a squirrel in one last evening, even as it became almost dusk, busily collecting leaves for a drey.
A soporific afternoon here. Cosy indoors and soggy out.
My French novel has reached a very exciting climax! Would make a great film à la Maigret.
So I’m off now to finish it.
And we turn the clocks back by one hour this evening.
