Fashionable Factories

The Shekou district is being gentrified bit-by-bit. What used to be factories has been turned into slightly arty area with boutiques and cool coffee shops and for Chinese New Year part of the area is decked out with lanterns.

Earlier in the day, at Costa Coffee, I met with Kane, a bright guy I met a couple of years ago. He and his friend started their own company developing apps for Android and Apple. Business is now looking up they now employ 20 staff and plan to recruit a further 40 over the coming year. Their company is called MobiBrothers and they even have their website in English
