MELLOW FRUITFULNESS

Even the dying ash tree has a bumper crop this year. Shaggy Pholiota (Pholiota squarrosa), I believe. The book says they're inedible, but also that they smell and taste radishy. I have a mental picture now of someone in A&E whose job it is to capture the last words of fungus-eaters-who-shouldn't-have ("aaaaarghhh...it was a bit radishy....."), though I suppose inedible isn't quite the same as poisonous.

My camera seems to have survived yesterday's soaking and thanks those who wished it well. I shall be cosseting it a bit more in future.
