Thank you, you lovely crew, especially those of you whose journals I rarely or never comment on, but who were still kind enough to wish me well yesterday. Renewing my membership today felt like good timing.

Back in the summer, when this plant drooped its purple flowers over the compost bin, I thought it was some sort of less attractive honeysuckle. Now that it's gone all vibrant, I used my plant ID app to discover that these are goji berries, which either cure everything or nothing, depending on whether you're going to vote for Trump or not (or something like that). They are related to tomatoes and I understand they are - unlike another cousin, deadly nightshade - not toxic so I tasted one. Hmmm - I won't be voting for Trump.

Once the sun turned to rain, my day switched from plant identification and soil-moving to indoor tidying. For the last week the kitchen and the room I live in have been a frustrating obstacle course, filled with carpet offcuts and broken chairs respectively. The carpet bits are now vacuumed and stashed; the chairs, even though still broken, are in places I won't fall over them.

A curious observation: about three weeks ago I happened to see that an unremarkable blip of mine had 1,418 views, way over ten times my normal maximum. I was puzzled. I went to look again today and it's had 470 extra views. It's my third most viewed blip and the two that have had more views are even less interesting. Why? What is going on?
