Obazda

Very Bavarian cheese snack to be eaten with pretzels & washed down with beer and in normal times even better in a beer garden under chestnut trees with a band playing and lots of good company.

Today made my own & it wasn't at all bad. 'Obazda' means 'mashed' & there are 1001 different variations but main ingredients are brie and/or camembert, soft Philadelphia like cheese, butter. Onions, chives, paprika according to taste plus a slug of beer to make it nicely "batzig" sort of sticky soggy!

Bavaria's most popular King, the one who designed a castle for Disney along with several other such works in the area will have his 175th ánniversary birt day in 4 times and I was considering popping down to Neuschwanstein castle in the next few days. Ludwig II was a great admirer of everything French, no doubt including their cheeses.
